Hoyas are versatile, popular house plants capable of growing in a variety of types of soil. Some grow their Hoyas with great success using a bagged African Violet soil. Others grow beautiful Hoya specimens in well-draining succulent soil, and some swear by their homemade organic potting soil mix.

How do you make hoya soil mix?

Here's the recipe:

  1. 2 parts potting soil (he likes Edna's Best Potting Soil by E.B. Stone Organics)
  2. 1 part materials that won't break down with time, and increase drainage (here, Matthew uses perlite, pumice, LECA, and horticultural charcoal)
  3. 1 part materials that retain moisture (sphagnum moss, coconut husk chips)

Is peat moss good for Hoyas?
